Blogging hazards

A colleague of mine was caught blogging about our boss by the boss herself. Miss. b didn't confront my colleague regarding her blogging adventures the day she read the post. She keeps it a secret and reveals it just days before my colleague leaves the company for good. Now, this is a case of leaving things till a more opportune time. No awkward glances were exchanged, no 'I know what you did at your blog' eye contact happened between the two. Everything turned out for the best.

This however, happens only with a lucky few. My friend, the enthusiastic blogger is one of them. There have been many cases where bloggers have been fired after a not so touching post about the company was read. I, for one am going to join that list of people as soon as I’m done posting. It really is not my fault that I’m not in love with the company policies. Every time I say I have to take a few days’ leave, the management looks at me like I had asked for a 60% share in their profits, along with other perks and benefits. It really is beyond me why Our HR, who is supposed to be dealing with our problems, adds to our list of problems, always knowingly. There are other crooks who will do all that they can to make us work a few extra hours everyday. Work will always be assigned 3 minutes before our leaving time. There have been days when I had to keep from asking them to shove the work down their throats. I make sure I leave as quickly as possible, sometimes rush out the door like my life depends on it. Exchanging goodbyes is something we never do. It gives them 1 or 2 minutes to stop us and assign some urgent work. All work that comes to us is marked 'URGENT'. 'SEND IT ASAP'... I wonder if an article about Christiano Ronaldo will make all the difference to this world we live in and make it a better place. I remember an incident, where the HR was discussing a leave application-

HR- Is it so urgent? Must you take a leave starting Monday?

Leave seeking guy- Yes! I'm getting married on Tuesday. It's very important for me to reach at least a day in advance.

HR- Aren't you in too much of a hurry? You must think of an alternative...Can't somebody else go?
Leave Seeking Guy- (amazed and all purple in the face) Since, I'm the bridegroom, I have to be the one who shows up there.

HR- All right...if you think it's that urgent, I guess there's nothing can we do. Go if you must!

Now, that is how our HR deals with people who ask for leave.

Only one person I work with knows about my blog - and that's how I like it.

Work is work, private time is exactly that - private.

I've read that most companies check employees blogs (if they know of them), Facebook pages, etc. If it's 'out there' you can't think that it's not going to find it's way to someones eyes that it probably wasn't intended for...

That's pretty classy though for the boss to not say anything since the employee was leaving anyway. But that HR situation has got to change.
"But I'mthe bridegroom!", "Can't okay it, you didn't file the proper paperwork 6 months ago..."
Bah.

lol I never understood this culture of shoving the work down the throats. Even I work from morning 8:30 to night 9 and when I joined, I was told its a 9 to 5:30 job :|
